All Saints

Preparing for All Saints Sunday

A Day of Baptism, New Member Reception,
and Remembrance of Members Who Have Entered Eternal Life

All Saints Day (November 1) is one of the great annual celebrations of the Church. We will celebrate All Saints on the Sunday following, which will be November 7.

All Saints Day is a day of both remembrance and hope. We remember all those whose persons who preceded us whose lives have been a light to our world and to our own lives.  we will remember and give thanks for those of our parish who have passed on to God’s eternal care since last All Saints Day.

All Saints is also a day of hope and welcome. We celebrate new Christians in baptism, reaffirm our baptismal promises, and welcome new members into our community.

If you are someone you know is seeking baptism, or if you have been attending Faith and would like to join the congregation, please contact Pastor Doug for information.

Tree Dedication

Black Gum Tree

On Sunday, October 31, we will dedicate a newly-planted black gum tree in memory of Lucas Parsons, who passed away last November. Lucas's parents are Mike and Kelly Parsons, his brother and sister are Hunter and Abby, and grandparents are Melody and Dan Kazee and Linda Parsons.  Lucas was a member of Faith. He participated in Joy Choir and Children Worship and Wonder and he loved trees and creating with Legos. The dedication will take place after the 11:00 service in the parking lot.

October Class for Newcomers and Others Explores "Christianity: Lutheran Style"

Luther Rose

What does it mean to be Christian, Lutheran Style?  What are the practices, beliefs and history that make Lutherans distinctive?  How do these shape our life at Faith Lutheran?

These are questions we are exploring in a five week adult Sunday Class: Christianity: Lutheran Style. The class is especially designed for newcomers to the Lutheran Church and to Faith Lutheran, but it is also a refresher class for anyone in the congregation. The class is offered as a hybrid: both in-person and on Zoom at 9:45 on Sunday mornings.  We will conclude the class on Reformation Sunday, October 31, and in worship on that day will welcome those who wish to become members of Faith. You are welcome to join the class at any time. Contact Pastor Hahn for more information.

Helping Hands

The Book Sale has been postponed. Stay tuned for more information.

God’s Pantry:  Let’s fill the barrel to overflowing!  Each month we’re challenging members of Faith to donate foods especially needed in our community! October is Soup Month.  When you buy your groceries, buy some cans of soup to fill the barrel for God’s Pantry. We will be happy to accept monetary donations or other foods, but wanted to bring a new twist of a particular food per month as a fun change to give everyone a chance to participate. You may drop off food items any day of the week. Thank you for your help!

Blessings in a Backpack: As school begins, members of Faith will begin delivering food to Julius Marks Elementary School for students needing food supplements over weekends. Let us know if you are willing to help with food pickup and delivery.

Catholic Action Center: Donations of paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) and including those plastic carryout cutlery packets we have collected during COVID shut in, can be placed in the barrel in the hallway outside the office.

All are welcome to activities posted here, or on our calendar.
